This is Tenmasa Go board with legs (6.3-sun/19.1cm thick) made by famous craftsman Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA.

The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling. This board is called 'Legendary Yaku Kaya' Go board. The works of Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA feature very thin markings lines, that create elegance and beauty.
All four legs are hand-carved according to the color tone of the board and grain patterns to maximize the expression and impression of wood, and to best match with the board.
Legendary Yaku Kaya board is a 6.3-sun (19.1cm thick) Tenmasa Go board, made from 2,000year-old giant torreya tree in Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Pref. Japan. As they are from Yakushima Island, designated as UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 1993, there will be no possibility to cut Yaku Kaya tree in the future because of strict preservation rule. Even before 1993, only a few torreya trees were cut down and shipped. As they have been grown in the very unique environment and climate in Yakushima Island, the wood contains much more oil in it and its smell is very different from normal torreya. The tree has peculiar character and grains are not straight at all. Please enjoy excellent feeling when placing a stone on the board as the wood texture is quite soft, that is specific to very old trees. Please do not miss this chance to purchase Yaku Kaya Tenmasa thick board because this board will be the last one, not available in the future.
Yaku Kaya (Japanese torreya) wood is the superb gem. You can enjoy the difference between Yaku Kaya and Hyuga Kaya in terms of grain patterns.
*There are some small cracks and stains. However, we keep the 6.3-sun (19.1cm) thickness to showcase the rarity of wood.
Please note that the edges have a bit of tar, small cracks, stains, and repaired cracks remain from the bottom to the cutting side. Grains are clear and dynamic.
*As Yaku Kaya contains quite a lot of oil in the wood, we apply enough wax so as to make the finishing surface smooth.
