This is Kiura Go board with legs (5.2-sun/15.9 cm thick) made by famous craftsman Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA.
Ichi-jo-saku (一如 作）means "made with Ichi-jo spirit" is the proof of his work.
This Kiura board with legs (5.3-sun: 15.9 cm thick) is made from 400-year-old Hyuga Kaya wood grown in Miyazaki Pref. Japan.
The material wood has high oil content and its color tone is very specific to Miyazaki wood. The board is made from a wood that has been dried for more than 30 years, so it is completely dried out.
The lines of a board are marked using Tachi-mori, the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
The works of Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA feature very thin markings lines, that create elegance and beauty.
All four legs are hand-carved according to the color tone of the board and grain patterns to maximize the expression and impression of wood, and to best match with the board.
There is a Itame part in some of top surface.Beautiful board with fine grain patterns, but color is partially irregular.
Top surface has an involvement of thin tree bark and inter-grown knot.There are cracks and hit scars on the legs.
