This board was actually used in the 3rd game of the 30th Hon-inbo title match between Mr. Yoshio ISHIDA 9-dan and Mr. Eio SAKATA 9-dan. The match was held on 9th and 10th of June, 1975 in Tsuneishi, Nukamuka Town, Hiroshima Prefecture Japan. At the bottom of the board, there are calligraphy writings showing Yoshio ISHIDA 9-dan’s professional name ‘Hon-inbo SHUHO’ and signature of ‘TENSHIN’, Eio SAKATA 9-dan’s professional name, place, date and the official name of the match.

Furthermore, this board was actually used in the famous Go title match (5th game), that fact added special value. The value of this board is not only in the quality and the rarity of material, but also its historical background.
・About the 3rd game of the 30th Hon-inbo title match
"Hyuga Kaya" wood is known as the highest quality material to make Go boards thanks to its softness and perfect feeling when placing stones. It has great durability and beauty as well. The wood has unique fragrance, and the wood surface turns into light brown color as you use for a long time. Hyuga Kaya is the No.1 material.
The lines of a board are marked using "Tachi-mori", the skill of drawing lines using a Japanese sword. This traditional technique highlights the beauty of natural grain patterns and the texture of lacquered line is smooth and has also a nice feeling.
The works of Mr. Torayoshi YOSHIDA feature very thin markings lines, that create elegance and beauty.
Beautiful board made from Hyuga Kaya wood. However, since the board was used in the title game 45 years ago, there are scratches and deterioration over time.
